This HCG Urine pregnancy test measures the presence of the hormone human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) in human urine for early detection of pregnancy. The concentration of HCG in a non-pregnant woman is usually 5mIU. At the time of the missed period the concentration rises to about 100mIU. The test is sensitive to 20mIU of HCG and is capable of detecting pregnancy as early as 7-10 days after conception. Clear & Simple do however recommend that you wait until the first day after your missed period to get a reliable result.
You do not need to take a urine sample but if you wish to do so, ensure it is collected in a clean and dry container. It is better to take a urine sample first thing in the morning because it normally contains the highest levels of HCG of the day but samples can be used from any time of the day.
Open the sealed pouch and remove the stick.
Take off the cap to expose the tip.
Hold the stick so that the tip is pointing downwards in your urine stream or in your collected urine sample as shown for at least 10 seconds.
Replace the cap, lay it flat and read the result within 5 minutes. As the test progresses you should see the liquid moving up the test area causing it to go light pink. As the pink fades the control line will appear as a strong line and the result line if present will appear below this.
If two coloured lines appear in the result window you are pregnant. One line may appear lighter than the other, but they will both be the same thickness. A faint line is more likely to occur when you are testing early and your hCG levels are low. See Questions 5 and 7 in the frequently asked questions.
If only one coloured line appears in the result window this is a negative result and you are either not pregnant or you may have tested too early. If you are unsure repeat the test in 48 hours with a new test stick. See Questions 6 and 7 in the frequently asked questions.
If no lines appear anywhere in the result window or there is only a line in the test area, the test has not worked properly and is invalid. This is usually due to the stick not being wet enough. Repeat the test with a new test stick ensuring that the stick is wetted for at least 10 seconds.
